Downtown Broken Bow Accident Between School Bus And Semi Result In No Injures

BROKEN BOW–An accident between a Broken Bow school bus and a semi hauling an empty cattle trailer resulted in no injuries.

At approximately 3 PM on Wednesday, November 20, a semi with a trailer was traveling north on Highway 21 attempting to turn right onto Highway 92/2 at the corner next to Varney Health Mart. At the same time a Broken Bow school bus, with approximately eight or nine pre-schoolers, was also traveling north attempting to turn right onto Highway 92/2.

When the semi driver attempted to turn, the trailer impacted the front left fender of the school bus and pushed the bus onto the curb, causing extensive damage. No injuries were reported by any of the individuals involved. A second bus arrived on scene shortly after the accident and removed the children from the scene.

Broken Bow Public Schools relayed a message to all afternoon parents to inform them of the situation shortly after the accident.

Broken Bow Public Schools Special Education Director Nikki Altig was on scene and said, “One of our preschool transportation buses was in an accident. No injuries were reported and children were transported home on another bus.”

The Broken Bow Police Department along with a few EMT’s responded to the accident. Broken Bow Elementary Principal Kim Jonas was also on scene.
