Deputies find man who lay out in the cold all night after crash

A man was found near his crashed car in rural Page County, Iowa, Wednesday morning, suffering from symptoms of hypothermia.
The man apparently crashed about midnight and was found just after 7 a.m. on a night when temperatures got down to 14 degrees.
According to the Page County Sheriff's Office: About 7:05, a deputy was dispatched to an intersection six miles northeast of Clarinda for a single-vehicle crash.
The deputy found the vehicle, a 2010 Hyundai, upside down with no one in it. The deputy searched the area and found the apparent driver, 65, laying in a ditch.
An ambulance was called and the driver was taken to the Clarinda Regional Health Center for treatment. The investigation into the crash showed the motorist was westbound on 172nd street and attempted to turn left onto Taylor/Page Avenue. He missed the turn, drove over a yield sign, and the car rolled into the ditch.
The driver then walked a short distance and passed out.
