Deer Hunter Arrested Due To Felony Ban On Firearm

TECUMSEH - The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Sterling man Nov. 18 for carrying a rifle while deer hunting. An arrest affidavit says the sheriff’s office was notified that Rick Estle, 39, would be hunting deer in Johnson County. Deputies noticed Estle’s pickup truck parked near the Big Nemaha River east of St. Mary. A sheriff’s deputy says he was using his binoculars and saw Estle carrying the rifle, although he is prohibited from the weapon due to a felony conviction.
