David City Man Charged with 3rd DUI, Accused of Driving Over 3 Times Legal Limit

DAVID CITY, Neb. - A David City man is looking at his 3rd DUI charge with authorities saying he was well over three-times the legal limit. Records say a Butler County deputy found 31-year-old Matthew Brandt in a Bellwood gas station parking lot in November 2017 after getting a public tip about a drunk driver. The deputy says he saw Brandt drinking out of a can and found a can of beer spilling on the floorboard when Brandt opened the door. Documents say Brandt initially blew a .305, before getting an official blood alcohol level of .274 in jail. Both readings are well over three-times the legal limit of 0.08. Brandt has DUI convictions in 2007 and 2008 in Saunders and Polk County. If convicted, Brandt could face prison time.
