Czech Celebration Gets Underway, Tonight

BEATRICE -  The 56th Annual Wilber Czech Festival….in the nation’s Czech Capital, gets underway tonight. A children’s parade will be held, starting at seven.  Prior to that, Sheryl Kastanek of the Nebraska Czechs of Wilber, says they’ll honor volunteers who help preserve Czech culture and keep the celebration going. [audio mp3="http://media3.floodradio.com/columbus/2017/08/Czech-Days-Here1.mp3"][/audio] :27                  “Czech festival going” An accordion jamboree helps kick off the celebration, at Wilber’s Outdoor Theatre, south of the downtown.  That’s from 5 until 6:30 p.m.  The Wilber Alumni Dancers will perform at the bandstand, downtown.  There’ll be polka bands at the T.J. Sokol Hall and in the beer garden outside the Hotel Wilber. A presentation called, “Tales of the Czechs” will be held at the Outdoor Theatre, at 9:30 p.m. A full schedule of activities is offered Saturday and Sunday in Wilber, including parades both days, beginning at two p.m.
