Kylen Borders (1st), Jessy Lowe (2nd), Ali Morris (3rd) placed in the top three out of 60 students during the Custer County Spelling Bee

ANSLEY–Approximately 60 students from Custer County schools competed in the annual Custer County Spelling Bee on Wednesday at Ansley Public Schools.

Grades 5 through 8 were challenged on words compiled from the National Spelling Bee list. Round one consisted of a written test of 60 words. From there, half of the group advanced to the second round where they completed another written test of 30 difficult words.

To close out the contest, 10 students advanced to the oral competition. Kylen Borders placed first, Jessy Lowe placed second, and Ali Morris received the third place award. All three students attend school in Broken Bow.
