Combine Fire Keeps Sargent Fire Department Busy On Thursday Morning

At approximately 10 AM on Thursday, December 12, Sargent Fire was dispatched to the scene of a combine fire southwest of Sargent on Kent Olsen’s property on the north side of Round Valley Road.

According to scanner traffic, mutual aid from Broken Bow Fire was also requested to supply a tanker to the scene, however, it was not needed and the crew was sent back.

Smoke could clearly be seen coming from the combine which was in the middle of cutting corn when the fire started. Three fire trucks and a tanker from Sargent responded to the scene and were able to put out the fire.

Sargent Fire Chief Reese Jensen said the fire was contained to the engine and engine compartment, which was completely destroyed. Jensen noted that none of the corn burned because Olsen had a fire extinguisher on hand and was able to keep the fire from spreading.
