Columbus Resident Out $36,000 After Twitter Scam

COLUMBUS - A Columbus resident is out $36,000 after a Twitter scam. Police say a 55-year-old reported that they entered into a Twitter contest, and were told they had won a car. The resident then sent the scammers various amounts of money over a couple months span, after the scammer convinced them they need to pay various fees and expenses to receive the vehicle, says police. The money sent to the scammer totaled $36,000, say police. If you believe you are being scammed, police encourage you to contact them immediately.
