COLUMBUS, Neb. - A Columbus man accused of setting up a meeting with an undercover police officer, who he thought was a teenager, was given a prison stint on Friday.
35-year-old Adam Wurdeman was given 2-4 years in prison for attempted sexual assault by electronic device.
Judge Robert Steinke did not accept a request for probation given by Wurdeman's attorney, citing past criminal history and the seriousness of his current conviction.
He was also sentenced to prison for 2nd degree forgery in 2013.
Court records say Wurdeman wrote online messages to a person he thought was a 15-year-old girl, saying he could give her marijuana, alcohol and sex.
He was arrested in the sting operation when he attempted to meet the person in Columbus.
Wurdeman told Judge Steinke that he was seeking sex offender and substance abuse treatment.
He is credited with two days served and is required to register as a sex offender.
