Columbus Council Approves over $90K Worth of Equipment for City Golf Courses

COLUMBUS, Neb. - The Columbus city council elected to invest in their two golf courses with approvals of four separate quotes for needed equipment. The council approved a total of $92,421 of equipment that will help maintain both public courses. The largest purchase was a sweeper for Quail Run that costs just over $34,000, that will be used for picking up leaves in the fall and after storms. The new model will also mulch and pick up pine needles and twigs, reducing the amount of manpower needed to clean up the course. Quail Run will also get a truckster, used for spraying, dirt work and tree removal, for around $23,000. The new truckster replaces a 1996 model. A new greens roller will also be coming to Quail Run for around $12,000. Van Berg will receive Quail Run's existing 2009 model. The council also approved an aerator for $22,681, replacing a model that was over 30 years old. The council hopes the moves help streamline operations, reduce long-term costs and improve efficiency at the courses.
