COLUMBUS - Mother Nature certainly hasn't gotten Spring fever, as the NWS forecasts the potential for 4 inches of snow in Columbus and the surrounding area. The National Weather Service says a Winter Weather Advisory is scheduled for Friday, for Platte, Colfax, Boone, Butler, Nance, Merrick, and Polk Counties among others. Columbus and Albion could see between 3 to 4 inches of snow, according to current predictions, and areas in Nance, Merrick and Polk could see even higher totals, says the NWS. The highs are currently forecast at 26 to 33 degrees, and snow is likely again on Sunday, says the NWS. Several sports activities for the area high schools are scheduled to take place Friday and through the weekend, including GNAC conference soccer, CHS golf at Kearney, CHS Tennis at Westside, CHS track at Kearney, CHS baseball at blair and the CHS invite on Saturday, Scotus Soccer at Council Bluffs, and Scotus golf at Aurora. A high possibility remains for all events to be either rescheduled or canceled. No officials decisions have been made.
