Cass County Fair Opens with Over $12,000 Raised During 4-H Cake Auction

WEEPING WATER, Neb. – The 2017 Cass County Fair kicked off with over $12,000 raised during the 4-H cake auction Tuesday night at the fairgrounds north of Weeping Water.

50+ entries of cakes, pies, cookies, cupcakes and other sweet treats were sold by Weeping Water auctioneer Dave Crandall. All proceeds benefit 4-H programs in Cass County.

The cake auction, fashion show and awards night gives families the opportunity to begin coming out and enjoying the fair, which is jam-packed again this year, according to Cass County 4-H Extension Assistant Tracy Ensor.

“We got everything from our static exhibits in our 4-H building, to our livestock shows throughout the week. We’ve dogs, we’ve got cows, we’ve got horses, we’ve got small animals and poultry, we’ve got rabbits, we’ve got it all!”

The Cass County Fair runs through Saturday and features extreme bull riding, a truck and tractor pull and freestyle motocross. A full schedule of events can be found at cassfair.com.
