Callaway District Hospital Transitions into a New Year with New Administration

CALLAWAY—After 41 years and seven months, Marvin Neth is retiring as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Callaway District Hospital. Neth began as an administrator for the hospital and continued in that role until this week. Having served as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the last two years, Brett Eggleston will now move into the CEO role.

Neth said he is already seeing a smooth transition at the hospital which has been his biggest hope upon retirement.

“What I’ve hoped for all along is just a smooth transition when I retire and that’s happening,” Neth said. “It’s not going to be a culture shock for our staff or anybody in the community because, you know, Brett and Caleb, are going to continue the same thing, same personality, same way that we’ve been doing things. But you know, I have a lot of faith in them and they’ll have some new ideas and I think things will get even better.”

The medical field is constantly fluctuating with new ways to care for patients, payment changes, and advanced technology. Being in a constant state of change for 41 years, Marvin Neth said is his proud of the way the hospital staff has been able to keep up and keep things running smoothly.

Callaway District Hospital is licensed for 12 hospital beds and also oversees the Arnold and Callaway Medical Clinics. Brett Eggleston says he looks forward to the future and working with newly hired CFO, Caleb Poore. Eggleston told KCNI/KBBN that Poore brings with him experience from western Iowa in working with rural health clinics.

“I need to think Marvin, first of all, he’s been a great mentor to me the last two years as we’ve kind of transitioned,” Eggleston said. “You know, I am just really looking forward to the future for the hospital and the clinic operation. I think we have a lot of great opportunities ahead of us. We have a fantastic medical staff, a fantastic nursing staff, and fantastic support staff. So I just really think we’re positioned very very well for the future.”

Marvin Neth appreciates the people of central Nebraska and as a retiree, Neth says he plans to work on cars, travel, and spend lots of time with his grandkids.

“Thank you to the community for the support of us over the years too because this doesn’t’ happen without the community support and the patients who are very supportive of us as well,” Neth said.
