BROKEN BOW—Senior Jordan Popp (far right in photo) of Broken Bow High School was recently named a Vice President for the Nebraska Future Farmers of America (FFA) State Officer Team. Officers were announced during the state convention held in Lincoln April 4-6.
According to the Nebraska Agriculture Education—FFA website, state officers commit to a year of service to not only the association, but also the agriculture industry. Seven individuals serve as officers and their responsibilities include serving as delegates to the National FFA Convention, meeting with business and industry representatives, traveling statewide to FFA chapters, and much more.
In an interview with the Rural Radio network upon being named Vice President, Popp said “I was just so excited for this opportunity.”
KCNI/KBBN spoke with Popp in November after the National Convention held in Indianapolis. He has been involved in the program since eighth grade. The Broken Bow senior said he enjoys the learning opportunities FFA offers such as leadership, public speaking, meeting people of different backgrounds, and the ability to have a positive influence on agriculture.
“Well I couldn’t ask for a better program. You learn so much while you’re doing it,” Popp said.
After graduation, Popp plans to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to study mechanized systems while serving as VP for one year.
