Broken Bow falls to Gothenburg on Homecoming night

The Broken Bow Indians fell to rival Gothenburg Friday night to drop to 2-4 on the season. Gothenburg’s Bennett Folkers threw for 2 touchdowns and ran for another as the Swedes improved to 4-2. The scoring began with 2:28 left in the 1st quarter when Folkers hooked up with Tyce Hruza for a 16 yd. TD pass to put Gothenburg up 7-0. The two would hook up again from 16 yds out to put Gothenburg up 14-0 with 5:03 to go in the 2nd quarter. Broken Bow would find a response though before the half. Following a Gothenburg turnover, Grayson Garey would connect with Josh Harvey for a 32 yd. TD pass to pull Bow to within 14-7 at the half. Broken Bow put together a strong drive to start the 2nd half but had to settle for a 26 yd field goal by Grayson Garey to make the score 14-10. The score would remain that way until Bennett Folkers broke loose for a 67 yd. TD run with 4:45 remaining in the game. That made the score 21-10 and that would be the final. Broken Bow will now get ready to host Ogallala on Friday (10/6). The game will be broadcast live on KCNI 1280 AM, 96.3 FM, and kcni1280.com
