Broken Bow falls to Chadron in home opener

The Broken Bow Indians fell to Chadron in their home opener on Friday (9/8) night. In the first half, Broken Bow showed the Cardinals that they were up for the challenge. The Indians defense was outstanding in holding a potent Cardinals offense scoreless through the first 2 quarters. The Broken Bow offense was able to do some good things in the opening half as well. In the final minutes of the 2nd quarter, Bow drove down to inside the Chadron 10 yard line. However, on 4th and goal, the Cardinals defense was able to hold and the game was scoreless at halftime. In the 3rd quarter, Chadron was finally able to generate some offense against a stingy Broken Bow defense. Chadron got on the board with 7:46 remaining in the quarter as quarterback Coy Bila connected with Jeff Cerny for a 15 yd touchdown pass to put Chadron ahead 8-0. Later in the quarter, Bila would score from 1 yd. out to make the score 16-0 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Chadron would score once more in the 4th quarter to make the final 22-0. Chadron improved to 3-0 on the season while Broken Bow dropped to 0-3. Next up for the Indians will be a trip to Grand Island on Friday (9/15) as the Indians will meet the GICC Crusaders.
