Broken Bow and South Loup Finish Runner-up in District Finals

The Broken Bow Lady Indians concluded their volleyball season Saturday with a runner-up finish in the C1-3 district final at GICC. Lincoln Lutheran defeated Broken Bow in straight sets 25-9, 25-19, 25-21. The Lady Indians battled strong in sets 2 and 3. Broken Bow led at one point 13-7 in the second and 20-17 in the third but Lincoln Lutheran was able to fight back and claim the straight set victory. Lincoln Lutheran Sophomore outside hitter Mariah Buss was a difference maker finishing with 30 kills in the match. Broken Bow finishes the season with a 20-12 overall record. Other C1 district winners Saturday included: Grand Island Central Catholic, Wahoo, North Bend Central, Minden, Malcolm, Ord, and Omaha Concordia.

South Loup claimed the runner-up trophy in the C2-8 District Final on Saturday in Lexington. South Loup was defeated by Southern Valley 3 sets to 1. South Loup won the first set 25-21 but then lost sets 2 and 3 by scores of 17-25, 20,25. In the fourth, South Loup had two chances to win the set at 24-22 but Southern Valley was able to run off 4 unanswered points to win the set and match 26-24. The Lady Bobcats finish the season with a 26-7 overall record. Other C2 district winner Saturday included: Hartington Cedar Catholic, Nebraska Christian, Centura, Stanton, Archbishop Bergan, Superior, and Ponca.
