BROKEN BOW— KCNI/KBBN is proud to announce that there is a celebrity that works at the station! Emily Barnett, who is the News Director and Public Affairs coordinator, was presented with not one, but two awards at the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Banquet on Wednesday, August 15.

Emily was awarded bronze for her story on the Broken Bow Library Grand Opening in the category of Best Use of Multimedia Journalism. In the same category, Emily was awarded the top honor of gold for her story on the Custer County Mobile STEM Lab.

Emily, who has been with the station for just over a year, has covered numerous news stories, grand openings, court proceedings, and conducted numerous interviews for public affair stories. The passion she has for her stories comes directly from the love that she has for the Custer County community.

Even as the birth of Emily’s first child draws closer, she still finds a way to get out and find the stories that may seem small, but have a big impact on the community.

“KCNI/KBBN is very excited about the two distinguished awards that Emily Barnett received from the Nebraska Broadcasters Association,” said owner and general manager David Birnie. “From her first day at work, Emily understood the importance of providing local news and information to our communities. She is a diligent reporter and a valuable member of our team.”

From all of us at the station, congratulations Emily on all of your awards!
