UPDATE – City of Peru officials are asking residents to boil water before being consumed. The “boil water notice” is in effect until further notice.
Peru will be holding another town hall meeting tonight (Monday) at 5 p.m.
Auburn and Johnson-Brock High Schools have opened their facilities for flood victims across the region to shower and use the restroom.
The Auburn locker rooms will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. every morning. Johnson-Brock will have their restrooms and showers open the next couple days from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

PERU – Two breaches north of town flooded the Peru bottoms on Saturday and continues to wreak havoc on the town’s water and sewer systems.
State Senator Julie Slama, from Peru, says the town does have water, however, the water treatment plant has been compromised by rising flood waters. She says the city has about 170,000 gallons of water left in the tower, or a few days worth of consumable water.
Residents are advised to conserve water and not shower or flush toilets. The sewer system is also under water.
Local emergency management are working with officials to setup outside sources just in case of an emergency.
Chip Johnson grabbed footage of the flooding on Sunday and witnessed a couple of pickup trucks unloading cases of bottled water.
“I just love living in a Nebraska where we all seem to really care and assist each other when the need arises. Kinda makes me very proud to be a part of this family.”
If you would like to assist Peru in their flood relief efforts, they ask to please donate water to city hall.
Peru State College closed their campus until further notice and classes have been cancelled on Monday and Tuesday.
