315.5 Pounds of Unwanted Medication Disposed of During Take Back Day

COLUMBUS - Police say over 300 pounds of unwanted medication was disposed of doing the Take-Back Day on April 28th. Columbus Police posted on Facebook that their agency, along with the Platte County Sheriff's Office, Back to BASICs Coalition, Walgreen's and the DEA, partnered up to dispose of 315.5 pounds of unwanted medication. The medication was collected from those who no longer had use for, or wanted medication that was in their possession. CPD says all of the meds are sent to the DEA who will incinerate everything that is collected. CPD says 452 agencies participated in the event, with 573 locations collecting the medication across Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, South Dakota and Southern Illinois.
