Area cross country teams competed at their respective district meets yesterday (10/12) where the top 3 teams and top 15 individuals qualified for the state meet in Kearney next week. Broken Bow was among the teams competing at the C4 meet in Ogallala. On the girls side, Holdrege was the team champion and Broken Bow placed 5th. Lexie Foster qualified for state by finishing 6th overall in a time of 20:48.6. The girls district champion was Lucia McKeag of Ogallala in a winning time of 19:47. On the boys side, the team champion was Holdrege. Broken Bow just missed out qualifying for state as a team by finishing 4th. Lane Russell qualified for state by finishing 12th overall in a time of 18:25.2. The boys district champion was Gavin Klein of Holdrege in a winning time of 16:57.9

Qualifying for the girls state cross country meet was Jenaya Pierce of SEM who finished 10th at the D4 district meet in Arapahoe. The Burwell girls team just missed qualifying for state as they finished 4th at the D5 meet in Ainsworth but did have Michaela Kelley and Cora Hemmer qualify as individuals. Also qualifying from the D5 meet was Alicia Rhoads of Arcadia/Loup City who finished 15th. Dakota Cords of Arcadia/Loup City qualified for the boys state meet by placing 12th at districts.
