York grad Mayson Conner one of three Huskers competing in NCAA indoor track championships

Nebraska will have three athletes competing at the NCAA indoor track and field championships, which begin Friday in Birmingham, Alabama.

Nebraska’s entries are high jumper Mayson Conner, heptathlete Jared Seay and triple jumper Angela Mercurio.

Conner, a York graduate, is seeded 11th after he cleared 7-33⁄4 to win the Big Ten high jump. He will compete at 1 p.m. Saturday.

This will be the second straight year Mercurio has made nationals in the triple jump. She finished 15th with a jump of 40-71⁄2 to earn second-team All-America honors a year ago. Mercurio, who has gone 43-6 this season, will compete at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Seay is seeded seventh in the heptathlon as he qualified by scoring 5,757 points. Four of Seay’s events will take place Friday, while the other three will be Saturday.
