Scoreless draw helps Husker women’s soccer team keep unbeaten streak alive

IOWA CITY — With a scoreless draw at Iowa on Wednesday, Nebraska extended its unbeaten streak to eight games and kept its clean record against the Hawkeyes alive.

The Huskers, who are 3-0-5 since a loss Sept. 22 against Ohio State, have never lost to Iowa and lead the all-time series 10-0-1.

NU outshot the Hawkeyes 18-5 and had a 9-3 advantage in shots on goal Wednesday, but it wasn’t able to get an attempt past goalkeeper Claire Graves.

Nebraska goalie Aubrei Corder earned her seventh shutout of the season. The sophomore has 18 shutouts in her career, a total that ranks fourth in school history.

The tie was the Huskers’ fourth straight overtime game, a stretch that includes a 3-2 victory over Purdue last week.

Reigning Big Ten co-offensive player of the week Haley Hanson, Elyse Huber and Michaela Loebel led Nebraska (9-3-5, 3-1-5 Big Ten) with four shots each.

The game at Iowa (8-6-2, 3-4-2) was rescheduled from Sept. 15 — it was moved from that date because of an illness among Nebraska student-athletes.

The Huskers play Saturday at Northwestern in their final road game of the regular season.
