Nebraska has added Los Angeles prep volleyball star Kashauna Williams to its signing class, and the 6-foot-1 outside hitter is enrolled for the spring semester at NU and will be on the Husker roster for the beach and spring court seasons.
Williams, from Lancaster, California, attended a California junior college last fall and did not play volleyball.
“Kash is an incredibly dynamic athlete and will have an opportunity to earn a role on our team this spring at outside hitter,” coach John Cook said in an NU release. “She has a lot of talent and we are excited to have the chance to work with her and see how she fits in at Nebraska. She will greatly improve our overall athleticism the day she gets here.”
Williams adds to a 2018 recruiting class that included four November signees: Outside hitter Capri Davis, setter Nicklin Hames, libero Megan Miller and middle blocker Callie Schwarzenbach. Nebraska recently announced that setter Hunter Atherton was leaving the program following her redshirt freshman season.
Williams played high school volleyball at El Camino Real Charter High School, and was named the Los Angeles Times City Section Division I player of the year as a junior in 2015. Before transferring to El Camino Real for her final three seasons, she began her prep career at Sylmar High and was the first freshman to ever play on the varsity team at the school.
Williams played club volleyball for Mizuno Long Beach and competed in the 2016 AAU National Championships. In 2017, she trained with the USA Women’s Junior A1 National Team. Williams also competed in track and field.
