LAWRENCE, Kan. — Nebraska’s offensive woes continued Sunday, when the Huskers were swept by Tulsa and Kansas for the second consecutive day at the Rock Chalk Challenge.
NU’s 6-0 loss to the Golden Hurricane followed by a 1-0 setback to Kansas, despite sophomore Olivia Ferrell’s best pitching performance of the season. The losses dropped the Huskers to 10-13. In the final three games of the series, Nebraska was outscored 9-0 and scratched out 10 hits in 21 innings.
Nebraska has lost seven straight and 11 of their past 13 heading into the start of Big Ten play Friday at Michigan.
The Huskers were no-hit by Tulsa’s Samantha Pochop, who gave up four walks and struck out seven. Nebraska’s Regan Mergele surrendered five runs on seven hits in five innings.
KU’s Brynn Minor earned her second victory in as many days over the Huskers, scattering six hits but none for extra bases. The Huskers had runners in scoring position in the first, third and fifth innings. In the fifth, a Husker was thrown out at the plate.
