Huskers roll to another victory

LINCOLN — Nebraska roughed up four South Dakota State pitchers for 13 hits Tuesday and rolled to a 14-3, five-inning softball victory over the Jackrabbits.

Freshman Lindsey Walljasper gave up two earned runs and four hits with six strikeouts to lead the 13-19 Huskers. Courtney Wallace finished the game pitching the fifth inning, giving up just one hit and striking out one in four batters faced before an announced crowd of 684 at Bowlin Stadium.

Junior Tristen Edwards was 3 for 3 with a double, two home runs and four RBIs. Alyvia Simmons, Bri Cassidy and Lexey Kneib all had two hits, while Simmons and Edwards both scored three runs.

The Huskers have now won three of their last four following a 12-game losing streak. Nebraska will host Northwestern in a three-game Big Ten series beginning Friday at 5:30 p.m.
