Former Nebraska defensive lineman Maliek Collins has suffered his third significant foot injury since he entered the NFL in 2016.

Collins broke the fifth metatarsal in his left foot Thursday during Dallas Cowboys offseason strength and conditioning workouts. He will undergo surgery, and Cowboys coach Jason Garrett told reporters Collins is expected to miss three months.

Collins broke his right foot prior to his rookie season in 2016 and missed most of the offseason as a result. Last year he had surgery to address a stress reaction in his left foot, though he didn’t miss any games.

Collins has played in all 33 games of his NFL career with 31 starts. He had five sacks during his rookie season and added 2.5 more in 2017. Collins was a second-team All-Big Ten selection at Nebraska in 2014 and 2015, then left after his junior season for the NFL.
