Water Fall Feature Proposed For Falls City

FALLS CITY – The Falls City City Council approved an application for a Nemaha Natural Resource District grant intended to help establish a waterfall in Falls City.

City Councilman Lucas Froeschl said natural falls were once prominent on the Big Nemaha River and he hoped to use a natural spring to re-create the rock ledge for which the town was named.

He said the idea is not practical because federal wetland regulations do not permit such development of a wetland.

The city council agreed Monday to pursue a waterfall feature near the swimming pool that recycles water rather than uses the natural spring.

Froeschl said the NRD grant may be available for portions of the project that include establishing native plants.
