Sterling Faces Tough Schedule Again in 2017

STERLING - Last season, the Sterling Jets finished their year at 2-7. Out of their seven losses, their opponents finished with a 48-10 record. That tough schedule led to a playoff berth for the Jets, where they would be defeated by top seeded Osceola in the first round. "Well, the schedule is set by the state of Nebraska, so you get the cards you're dealt. This year, it's not going to be much different. Our schedule is going to be very, very challenging. I think we've got a little more speed this year, but we've got a lot less size, so we're going to have to make some adjustments. That's the game of football," said Head Coach Arlo Wusk. This will be the 34th year for Head Coach Arlo Wusk. That tenure has featured 23 playoff appearances and two state championships. The 2017 campaign has gotten off to a great start, with great weather and plenty of conditioning. "It's been hard, but I think it's going to pay off. I feel like we've gotten a lot better from start to end and I feel like we're on the right track," stated Senior Ben Hier. Senior Spencer McClellan wants to have a great final year with the Jets. "We're going to come out here, work our tails off, try to get more wins than we did last year and just make it as memorable as we can." Sterling begins their season at Lawrence-Nelson.
