SOUTH SIOUX CITY – Two South Sioux City schools are on lockout after a social media threat.
The South Sioux City High School and Middle School went on lockout and lockdown around 1 p.m. Wednesday after police say several students received a concerning message on social media. The message was sent to school officials and local law enforcement.
SSC Police Lt. Chris Chernock said the message did not pose a specific threat and the lockout is just a precaution.
The person who sent the social media message is a student at SSC High School and is being interviewed by authorities.
Police say there is no ongoing threat to the schools. All students are safe and the situation is secure.
