SYRACUSE – With snow falling and ice developing in southeast Nebraska, it’s hard to get in the mood for summer events like a county fair. However, the Otoe County Fair Board is planning the 2019 celebration and announced Tuesday a new event for this year’s fair on July 25-28.

The board hired Rose Rodeo Productions from Hershey, Neb. to bring a full featured rodeo to perform on both Friday and Saturday nights. Rose Rodeo Productions is one of the oldest and finest rodeo companies in Nebraska, according to rodeo announcer Fred Huffman.

He says a lot of people in Otoe County want to a rodeo at this year’s fair after seeing several at fairs in surrounding counties.

“Don’t take me wrong, they love the bull riding. That’s the whole thing about rodeos is a lot of people like to see the bull riding, because they like to see the wrecks and the action with the bull riding. There is a large part of the community and hardcore rodeo fans, they love to watch a good horse work underneath a cowboy or cowgirl.”

Rose Rodeo Productions have been sending bulls to the Fremont Bull Riding Class over the last 23 years.

The Otoe County rodeo will feature all the favorites: bull riding, team roping and barrel racing, and mutton bustin’.

This year’s fair theme is “Blue Jeans & Country Dreams.”
