Lourdes Central Catholic Forward Signs to Play College Hoops

NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. – Lourdes Central Catholic senior Quinten Vasa will further his education and basketball career at Briar Cliff University next year.

The 6’8″ forward signed his letter of intent Monday afternoon at the school library surrounded by his parents Bradley and Jo, Knights Head Coach Joe Tynon and Charger Head Coach Mark Svagera.

Vasa says he chose Briar Cliff because it felt like home and he really liked the players.

“That was probably the key deciding factor was I fit in really well with the guys. They are a lot like me. They have their mind kind of set in the right place. I loved it there.”

He plans to major in biochemistry.

Vasa has played 85 varsity games for Nebraska City Lourdes. He has a career scoring average of 7.5 points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game. During his junior season, he averaged 12.6 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game.

Quinten is the second current Vasa to play basketball at the college level. His older brother Noah plays for Peru State College.

Two-time defending Class D2 state champions Lourdes Central Catholic will open the 2017-2018 season on Thurs., Nov. 30 during their home tournament.
