Lincoln officer recognized after saving man from fire

LINCOLN, NE (News Channel Nebraska) – A Lincoln police officer is being recognized for her bravery after rescuing a 40-year-old man from a burning building.

The officer was driving to work Monday Afternoon and was stopped by a young girl near 10th and A streets.

The girl said her home was on fire and there was somebody still inside.

Lincoln Police Officer Taylor Murphy, went into the smoke-filled apartment and carried out the man.

The man was taken to the hospital, and his condition was not released.

Lincoln Police spokeswomen Angela Sands said the officer, who has been on the force for two years, is commended for her quick action and bravery.
