AUBURN – Auburn School Superintendent Kevin Reiman announced his immediate resignation Monday citing a divided school district.
In a statement to the school board, Reiman apologized for viewing school surveillance video at his home during Christmas break and allowing a recording of the showing to make its way to social media.
Board Chairman Mike Zaruba said the school does not yet have a specific policy banning the viewing of school surveillance video off of school grounds. He said Reiman made a mistake and the content of the video speaks for itself.
Audio from the recording in Reiman’s home includes his comments about a student’s reaction to a fight in the hallway.
Reiman, who has been with the Auburn schools for 20 years and the last eight as superintendent, thanked all who supported him.
He said in the interest of the school district’s cohesiveness going forward, he felt it best to resign.
