Freeman Returns Several Starters in 2017, in What Could be Huge Year

ADAMS – In their 2016 campaign, Freeman suffered four losses on the year to teams with winning records, but gained some valuable experience.

“Well, we had a lot of guys play. We got bit by the injury bug, which isn’t an excuse, but what it did it got guys experience. We brought a bunch of letter winners back and a bunch of guys that started and played. Now, in practice, they’re a week ahead, they’re more polished, and we don’t have to spend as much time talking and go out and really practice on what we really need to, our technique,” said Head Coach Travis Andreasen.

The end to last season for the Falcons featured losses in three out of their last four contests, eliminating them from playoff contention. Their seniors believed they learned a lot, though.

“I would say the biggest thing we took away from last year was paying attention to the details. Coming off a 1-8 season last year, we knew we had to make big improvements, which we did, but now to take that next step, I would say more little things,” declared Senior Blake Kastanek.

With this year’s team featuring double digit seniors, they want to go out with a bang.

“Playoffs, that’s always on the mind. We have a bunch of returning starters. We underachieved last year. We had a lot of injuries, but they hung tough midway through the season. They kept playing hard,” stated Senior Jacob Dorn.

The Falcons begin at home against Hastings St. Cecilia.
