Fast Global Solutions Trimming Down Work Force

GLENWOOD, Minn. – FAST Global Solutions told its employees Tuesday that there will be a reduction in workforce sometime the week of April 29.

A company press release says the reduction of about 10 to 15 percent of the workforce will impact both direct and indirect labor across all of the company’s locations, which include Falls City and Auburn.

Fast Global Solutions, which makes airport ground support equipment, conveyors and agricultural sprayers, has been active in Falls City since 1989 and started at its Auburn location in August.

Auburn officials credited Fast Global for saving jobs in Nemaha County when Ariens announced it was consolidating operations in Minnesota.

Beckie Cromer of Falls City Edge: “FAST Global solutions has a strong history in Falls City dating back to 1989.  Unfortunately, restructuring is a fact of business life but I have no doubt FAST Global solutions will rebound because they have a solid management team in place making decisions that are in the best interest of the company. Falls City EDGE stands ready to support them and their efforts.  They are a great asset to this community.”

The announced layoffs are not the first for the local workforce this year.

Diversified Foods at Nebraska City closed impacting 54 jobs and 45 jobs were impacted by the closing of Shopko Hometown stores in Falls City and Auburn.

The Nebraska Department of Labor provides a warning of layoffs and downsizing through April 23.

These include Coreslab Structures in Bellevue, Care and Rehabilitation Centers in Schuyler, Sidney and Norfolk, Bass Pro Shops Cabela’s in Sidney, the Shopko distribution center in Omaha called Spectrum America Supply Chain and the Lincoln Journal Star.

The Shopko Distribution Center at Omaha impacts 295 workers, Cabela’s in Sidney 120 workers and care centers, 146.

Fast Global Solutions,  an employee-owned company,  also has locations in Glenwood and Windom, Minn.
