Diller-Odell faces tough task at No. 3 Johnson-Brock Friday

JOHNSON – The Class D2 No. 3 Johnson-Brock football team looked the part of a favorite to win the D2-1 district when they ran past Parkview Christian last Friday, 80-0, in Lincoln.

The other two teams expected to compete for the top spot in the district are No. 2 Falls City Sacred Heart and Diller-Odell. The Eagles play the Griffins on Friday at 7 p.m. in Johnson.

Huskerland Prep Report Publisher Bob Jensen, who says J-B has five or six “star players,” calls Diller-Odell a good football team, but predicts they’ll have their hands full against the Eagles.

“They couldn’t beat Lawrence-Nelson and J-B is even better. People should understand that Diller-Odell does have the capability of standing up for themselves in a game like that.”

The Griffins will rely on their senior quarterback Ryan Arnold, who has thrown for 374 yards and seven touchdowns. He’s also rushed for 321 yards and seven scores.

Senior William Mclaughlin has added 296 yards rushing, five rushing touchdowns and four receiving scores.

Arnold’s top target is senior Bryston Warren. 6’1″, 165-pound tight end has caught 13 passes for 258 yards and two touchdowns.

The Eagles feature a spread attack with senior Cole Fossenbarger piloting the offense. The 5’11”, 140-pound senior has thrown for 892 yards and 20 touchdowns. He has not thrown an interception.

Senior running back Dylan Rowe leads Johnson-Brock on the ground with 212 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns.

Junior wide receiver Ty Hahn has caught 22 passes for 356 yards and 9 touchdowns.
