LINCOLN, NE (News Channel Nebraska) – What would you do for the chance at free food for a year?
For hundreds in Lincoln, the answer to that question is to sleep in a parking lot.
The new Chick-fil-A location at the corner of 48th and O Streets in Lincoln invited people to join in the opening festivities by participating in a First 100 Campout 12-hour event.
Fans of fried chicken were invited to camp out in the parking lot for a chance to win prizes, including free food for a year.
The celebration also included a children’s book drive benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Lincoln and Lancaster County.
The campers stayed out until the official opening at 6:30 Thursday morning. If you’re wondering overnight lows in Lincoln last night reached minus-two degrees.
