Flames burning grass for the third time this week in Sherman County promoted Region 26 Emergency Management to call responders to the site of a fire near Highway 92 and WPA Road west of Loup City on Saturday. Similar to recent blazes in the county this week, the Sherman County Sheriff says that evidence at the scene indicates this fire as being intentionally started.

The fire burned approximately 40 acres before being handled quickly by the Loup City Fire Department, Litchfield Fire and Rescue, and the Sherman County Sheriff’s Office.

The site of this fire as well as the previous fires continue to be monitored.

The sheriff thanked the public for leads that have been forwarded to aid in investigations, as well as those who have  volunteered their time and effort assisting with the fires.
