The Broken Bow boys basketball team improved to 2-0 with a 58-45 win on the road against North Platte St. Pat’s. For the second night in a row, Bow used a big 2nd half to pull away for the win. Bow led by just one at the half but outscored the Irish 32-20 in the 2nd half. Grayson Garey helped lead the 2nd half charge scoring 13 of his 16 points in the 2nd half. Josh Harvey scored a team high 22 points for the Indians and Cade Chapin also finished in double figures with 11.
The Broken Bow girls basketball team fell to St. Pat’s 45-39. The Lady Irish were preseason #5 in Class D1 according to the Omaha World Herald. Bow jumped out to a 13-8 lead at the end of the 1st quarter but St. Pat’s held the Lady Indians to just 3 points in the 2nd quarter to take an 18-16 lead at the half. The Lady Irish built a 9 point lead in the 2nd half and then held off a Bow run in the 4th quarter to collect the win. Kya Scott scored a team high 13 and Kali Staples also finished in double figures with 12. Broken Bow is now 1-1 on the season.
The South Loup girls and boys basketball teams had an impressive start to the season. The Lady Bobcats held Twin Loup to 10 total points in collecting a 53-10 season opening victory. South Loup was led by Jessie Sallach who finished with a game high 16 points. The South Loup boys were equally impressive holding Twin Loup to just 18 points in a 61-18 victory. The Bobcats had 3 players finish in double figures. Kalen Dockweiler led all scorers with 18 points while Jace Connell chipped in 13 and Drew Vickers finished with 12. The Wolves were led by Dilan Saner who had a team high 11.
