Connie Green – News Director

[email protected]

Born in Omaha and raised in northern Douglas county, Connie began writing stories for the school newspaper at Fort Calhoun junior-senior high school, later transferring to Omaha Technical High school where she began radio classes. A scholarship to the University of Nebraska at Omaha enabled her to pursue journalism and television production where she received her degree in broadcasting. She worked in television production for a few years, simultaneously with radio broadcasting at public stations KIOS, KVNO and KIWR. Connie has worked at a number of Omaha area stations, including WOW/Z-92,KEDS, KYNN, Lite 96, KOIL, KOMJ, KOOO, KCRO, KGBI, KOTK, KLMS and KFMQ in Lincoln, and a short stint in the mid 1980’s at our sister station, KHUB in Fremont. She was also a news director in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and at stations in Arizona, Maine, Massachusetts and Ohio.

Green has also freelanced reporting for ABC news, National Public Radio, Canadian Broadcasting Company, Voice of America, as well as doing voice work for a number of regional and national groups.

Connie also has experience writing and illustrating publications.

Among some of the more memorable events Connie has covered – the visit of President Ronald Reagan to Omaha, the first girl to graduate from Boys Town, the U.S.- Russian summit at Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and her personal favorite – meeting James Doohan, the actor who played Scotty on the original Star Trek series. She has a modest background in public broadcasting and has worked with Lionel Hampton, members of Mannheim Steamroller, and the late Preston Love, Sr. One of the many highlights in that aspect of her career – working with Maya Angelou twice in public television. She considers Angelou to have possessed one of the most eloquent female voices ever.

Connie currently lives in Blair and enjoys a variety of creative past times.

Dave Wingert – Morning Show host, 6A-9A weekdays

[email protected]

Dave was a New York City baby, raised in Pittsburgh, schooled at Ohio University (the one in Athens. Not Columbus!)

Dave has made a satisfying career marrying his two passions: theater and broadcasting.

An award-winning actor, as well as a tv and radio personality, “Wingy” was inducted into the Nebraska Broadcasting Association’s Hall of Fame as a “legendary Personality” about a dozen years back. After spending 20 years in Seattle hosting a nationally syndicated radio show “Dave Til Dawn”, heard on almost 100 stations cross the country, Dave realized he wanted to move back to The Heartland to ‘playhouse how ever many chapters are left,” and enjoy the rich and satisfying quality of life The Big O has to offer.

He can be found “onstage” at Boomer Radio Monday thru Friday mornings.  His last theatrical performance was “Frost Nixon” at the Blue Barn Theater at 10th and Pacific in Omaha.

Jessica Dol – Midday host, 10A-3P weekdays

[email protected]

A Minnesota native, Jessica Dol, has been in radio for 26 years. She started her career April 1993 at Lazer 101.7 in Rochester, MN. In 1996 she made a move to Milwaukee, WI where she reported traffic – from a plane – twice a day.  She could no longer take the flying and made a move to Cedar Rapids, IA in 1997.

She was one of the key players on The Morning Rock at KRNA 94.1 – she enjoyed being on a morning show that was only about entertaining and laughter. After 9/11 happened, it changed radio forever.  She decided it was time to make another change and made her way to Omaha, NE in 2001.

October 23rd, 2001 marked Jessica’s debut as the Midday Rock Chick on Z92.  Omaha welcomed her with open arms which led to a 16-year run on Z92. Jessica left Z92 in August of 2017 to pursue a career in public service.  However, the radio-bug had burrowed deep in her heart, and when Walnut Radio came along, she knew she had to dive back in.

Nowadays, you can hear Jessica on Boomer Radio from 10am-3pm weekdays!
