Katrina “Kat” Thomas, 47, passed away unexpectedly on September 19, 2025, in Lincoln, Neb. She was born on November 30, 1977, to Tim and Pat Thomas. She graduated from Broken Bow High School in 1996. She received a bachelor’s degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Human Services from Southeast Community College, graduating with distinction. She most recently worked as a Case Aide/Office Technician at the Department of Health and Human Services. She volunteered at Clyde Malone Community Center, Nebraska Appleseed, Nebraska Recycling Council, ResCare Workforce Services, Nebraska Civic Engagement Table. Katrina loved helping people.
One of her accomplishments at age 16 was to enter the 1994 Great Model Search for Teen Magazine. She was one of the 15 finalists chosen out of 24,000 as received an all-paid trip to Los Angeles, Calif. Her favorite pastime was puzzles, advanced coloring and working with flowers in her yard. Katrina had a courageous battle with colon cancer. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Blaize Jackson, Lincoln, Neb.; parents, Tim and Pat Thomas; sister, Pam (Darren) Marten; nephews, Dustin and Tycen Marten; niece, Janae Marten; great-niece, Laiklynn Marten; grandmother, Anna Schuler, all of Broken Bow, Neb. Katrina was blessed with her son, Blaize, who was her pride and joy and she loved her sister, Pam, very much.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Charles Schuler; grandmother, Ruby Thomas; grandfather, Eugene Thomas; and aunt, JanaJo (Schuler) Philbrick.
Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Roper & Sons Chapel, 4300 “O” St., Lincoln, Neb.
