Javene Nielsen age 83 of Broken Bow, NE, passed away on September 21, 2026.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Family for future designation. A visitation and time to greet the family will be held on Sunday, September 27th from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Mary Javene (Ryan) Nielsen was born on June 25, 1943, in Milford, NE, along with a twin sister Gwendolyn “Jeanne” to Richard Edmond and Emma Blanche (Hendrickson) Ryan. Javene grew up in the Mason City area graduating from Mason City High School in 1962.
On June 18, 1965, Javene was united in marriage to Richard Nielsen. The couple made their home in Broken Bow. Javene worked at several jobs throughout the years including Wenquist, Custer County Chief, and the last for Off Broadway, where she moved to on June 5th, 2026.
Javene enjoyed bowling, playing cards, music, and dancing. Within the family she was known as “The Warden” as she was constantly having to get after all of the cousins!
Javene was preceded in death by her husband Richard, infant son Daniel, daughter Dixie, both parents, stepfather Wes Leymaster, twin sister Jeanne, and grandson Dawson.
Javene is survived by sons Randall (Jennifer) Nielsen of Broken Bow and Darren
(Stephanie) Nielsen of Roeland Park, KS, daughter Tara (fiancé Justin Getzfred)
Nielsen of Hastings, sister Kay (Lyle) Schall of Broken Bow, 12 grandchildren, 6 great-
grandchildren and another on the way.
