Timothy Richard Beals of Alliance passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024 at Box Butte General Hospital. He was 64 years of age.
He was born on June 8, 1959 in Broken Bow, NE to Richard D. and Frances L. (Pirnie) Beals. He graduated from Anselmo-Merna High School in 1977. Following graduation he attended Hastings Central College for two years. While there he received his mechanical training which led to his career with the railroad In 1979 Tim moved to Alliance when he hired on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a machinist. A decline in his health forced him into retirement in 2019 after nearly 40 years of service to BNSF. While in Alliance he was a member of the United Methodist Church. He enjoyed being a member of the community choir and was also a member of the Eagles Club. He was an enthusiastic goose hunter and enjoyed being at the Alliance Gun Range as well as be an avid gardener.
He married Retta F. McAelvy on September 27, 1981
He is survived by his sons, Abraham David (Kari) Neth of Lincoln, Zachary Beals (Jessica Seltvedt) of Rapid City, SD and Jacob (Melanie) Beals of Alliance, his grandchildren, Alex, Claire, Josh, Kate, Graci and James. He is also survived by his siblings, Bill Beals of Broken Bow, Mary (Mike) Myers of North Platte and Dave (Shari) Beals of Merna and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 23 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Alliance. Pastor Greg Reed will be officiating. Burial will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. C.D.T., at the Merna Cemetery at Merna, Nebraska. Visitation will be Monday from 1-6 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.
