Funeral Services for Rick Leibert, age 65
February 20, 1957 - January 13, 2023

Rick Leibert age 65 of Sargent, NE passed away January 13, 2023, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday January 23, 2023, at 10:30 am at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s Catholic Church in Sargent, NE with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Sargent. Memorials are suggested to Sargent Ambulance, Fire & Rescue, or the Donor’s Choice. A visitation will take place on Monday morning 9:00 am to service time. Govier Brothers Mortuary are in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at govierbrothers.com.

Richard “Rick” Ray Leibert was born to Darrell and Shirley (Wells) Leibert in Sargent, NE on February 20, 1957.

After graduating high school in Sargent, he attended Peru State College where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business. Upon graduating, Rick lived in St. Louis, Missouri and worked as an auditor for Site Oil Company. After three years he returned home to farm with his Uncle Marlin.

In 1984 Rick and Rosemary Smolik were married. They made their home on a family farm northwest of Sargent. To this union one son Eric.

Rick was passionate about the farm. He liked to teach the grandchildren and show them around the farm. He enjoyed working with family and watching sports.

Rick enjoyed car races, visiting, and fishing at the campground, and playing cards with his dad, brothers, Steve, Tim, and Terry and their families.

April 19, 2022, Rick was grateful to receive a bilateral lung transplant at UNMC in Omaha.

Rick is survived by his wife Rosemary of Sargent, son Eric (Sarah) Leibert of Berwyn, grandchildren Damian Hill, Shasta and Miah Handley, Ryder, Eric, and Victor Leibert, Trinity Bruha, Izaiah Frye, and Estelle Leibert, brothers Tim (Terri) Leibert, and Terry (Terese) Leibert, sister-in-law Linda Leibert, brother-in-law John Smolik, aunts Conni Bomberger, Gaylean (Clifford) Olson, and Vicki (Chuck) McCarty, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, brother Steve Leibert, sister-in-law Yvonne Leibert, uncles Marlin Bomberger and Reid Wells.
