She was born on January 29, 1931 in rural Callaway, Nebraska to Lynn and Edna (Buckner) Griffith. She attended public schools in Callaway and graduated from Callaway High School with the class of 1949. She went on to further her education at Kearney State College for a year.

Mary Jane was united in marriage to Francis “Punch” Pandorf on May 5, 1951 in Callaway. Eight children were blessed to this union: Michael, Mark, Thomas, Marie, Donald, Kenneth, Barbara and Stephen. The family made their home in rural Callaway, where she devoted her time caring for her family, homemaking and helping run the family business. Punch preceded her in death on May 27, 1981.

Mary Jane spent many years as the Bookkeeper for Pandorf Land and Cattle and cooked the meals for the hired men.  She did a lot of gardening and canning.  Her grandchildren were very special to her, she attended many of their sporting events, she taught them piano, baked cookies, played card games and put puzzles together.  There was always a crowded table at Mary Jane’s house during the holidays.  Mary Jane always looked forward to spending time with her family, especially at the house on Lake Maloney.

She was a faithful member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, where she played the organ for many years. Mary Jane also taught CCD and was a part of other activities at her church. She was on the Callaway School Board for many years and was instrumental in helping raise funds for the original swimming pool, now carrying on her legacy for the new pool. Above all, Mary Jane has left a tremendous legacy of love, and faith to her family.
