Funeral Services for Joann Still, age 73

April 10, 1949 - September 23, 2022

Joann Still age 73 of Anselmo died Friday, September 23, 2022, at the Custer Care Center in Broken Bow.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 28, 2022, at 10:30 AM at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with Rick Eldred officiating.  Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. A light meal after the burial will be served at the Church of Christ with time for family and friends to share memories of Joann’s life.  In lieu of flowers she requests that memorials be given to The Community Connection, The Food Bank or Custer Care.  A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary with the family greeting friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The family requests everyone to wear pink to the services in honor of Joann’s work with Breast Cancer Awareness.  The services will be livestream at www.govierbrothers.com.

Joann Lucille Still was born April 10th, 1949, to Earl and Erma (Pracht) Douglass in Broken Bow, NE.  Joann grew up in the Happy Hallow area south of Berwyn before moving to the family ranch east of Anselmo, NE.  During her youth Joann was active in 4-H, speaking often of her Hereford cattle, sewing and cooking projects and the lifelong friendships she made in Junior Leaders.  Joann graduated high school from Anselmo – Merna in 1967.  Joann married Richard (Rick) Charles Still on February 14, 1971, in Anselmo.  Joann worked as a teller at Custer Federal, drove a school bus for Anselmo-Merna Public Schools and spent 35 years working at Becton-Dickinson.  She was always quick to help anyone in need and truly loved helping others. She was instrumental in establishing a breast cancer support group in Custer County and organized multiple Breast Cancer Walks.  After retirement she volunteered at the Community Connection, the Food Bank and spent countless hours with residents of Off Broadway Assisted Living.  She was a very talented seamstress, sewing clothing for her family, doing alterations for others and in later years quilting.  Even while enduring breast cancer and kidney issues she always had a smile on her face and was quick to help others.   She was a very talented musician playing the piano for several years at church and had a beautiful singing voice.  She loved to listen and sing all types of gospel music. She passed from this earthly life into the arms of her lord and savior while surrounded by family at Custer Care on September 23rd,2022.

Joann was welcomed into heaven by her husband; Rick, parents; Earl and Erma Douglass, in laws; Willard & Lorraine Still, infant sister Dotty Kay, granddaughter Mayble A Still, and great granddaughter Eden A Eggleston.  Left behind to continue her earthly work are her children; Richard Still Jr and wife Brenda of Oconto, Ann Smith and fiancé Kenneth Cook of Wills Point, Texas, Douglass Still and wife Amber of Cheyenne, WY.  Grandchildren: Rebecca and Wyatt Eggleston, Marshall and Mykelsi Still, Ethan Still and fiancé Alicia Carpenter, McKayla and Patrick OTeney, Haley Conley, and special friend William Schoenfeld.  Great Grand Daughters; Esmae and Etta Eggleston and Chloe OTeney and Brother; Dana Douglass of Omaha and her best friends Doris Cole and Andie Schmidt along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Joann lived her life to the fullest with a strong relationship with God.   She professed her love in Jesus Christ and lived each day doing God’s work.  She always had a frog pin or charm that served as her daily reminder to Fully Rely OGod.    She was incredibly proud of her 3 kids, 5 grand kids and 3 great granddaughters and was always quick to show off pictures of them or tell of their latest accomplishments.
