Funeral Services for Isla Lindsey, age 91
May 5, 1931 - March 26, 2023

Isla Marie (Scofield) Lindsey, 91, of Burwell, Nebraska died March 26, 2023 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Burwell, Nebraska.  Burial will be in Cottonwood Cemetery in Burwell.  Pastor Serene Samuel will officiate.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 – 7 p.m. at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.  In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Methodist Church or the Burwell Veterans Park.

Isla was born May 5, 1931 on the family farm eight miles east of Burwell to Aubry G. and Emma A. (Mach) Scofield.  She attended country school through the eighth grade at McIntyre School and graduated from Burwell High School in 1949.

Isla marred Terrance Lindsey on June 2, 1949 at St. Paul, Nebraska.  In her early married years, she was a waitress in various local cafes.  In January of 1960 she began working for Dr. Roy S. Cram and upon his retirement Dr. Lyle Alloway, totaling forty-three years.  She also worked in the lab at Community Memorial Hospital in Burwell.

She belonged to the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, American Legion Auxiliary and was a Gold Star Sister.  She enjoyed playing cards, cross word puzzles and reading.  Isla had a special place in her heart for her great niece and nephews.

Isla is survived by nieces and nephews, Janet Lindsey and Steve and Diane Lindsey of California, Cindy Pearson of Broken Bow, Denise Doggett of Gering, Nebraska, Barbara and Russ Langhorst of Brighton, Colorado, Janet Luthje of Arcadia, Nebraska and Dennis and Lynda Scofield of Lincoln, Nebraska. Great nieces and nephews; Hans Luthje and family of Philipsburg, Montana, Chesney Langhorst of Sterling, Colorado and Luke Langhorst of Phoenix, Arizona, Rod and McKayla Doggett of Callaway, Nebraska and Heather Doggett of Central City Nebraska, and several great-great- nieces and nephews.

Isla was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son David Lynn, and brothers, Eldon, Edward, Eugene of Burwell, Nebraska and William of Cut Bank, Montana.
