Edwin Roy Staab, 91 of Clarksville, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Fieldstone Place Assisted Living.
Ed was born on January 26, 1931 in Berywn, NE to Reuben (Dutch) Albert and Opal Verda Bennett Staab. He attended Happy Hollow Rural School through eighth grade, continuing on and graduating from Ansley High School. He attended Kearney State College, becoming the pitcher for the Lopers baseball team. After college he joined the military for 2 years. He married Darlene Maret from Gibbon, Ne. To this union 2 sons, Greg and Mark were born.
He began his coaching career at Ainsworth, Ne. later moving on to Ogallala, Ne. and then to LaQuinta High School in Garden Grove, Ca.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents Dutch and Opal, his first wife Darlene, his siblings, Bernard, Max, John Staab and step-son, David Hirt.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Roberta Gardner Hirt Staab; sons, Mark D. (Susan) Staab and Gregg (Deb) Staab; step-children, Larry (Janet) Hirt, John (Debbie) Hirt, Jim (Jennifer) Hirt and Sandra (Steve) Sireika; grandchildren Emmaline and Claire; 10 step grandchildren and 10 Step great-grandchildren; his siblings, Harry (Jo) Staab of Kearney, Larry (Pricilla) of Indiana, Staab, Rollie (Gloria) of Ord Staab, Della (Dick) Gert of Elm Creek and Phyllis Mae Samp of Ansley.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022 1-3 pm at Kearney Harmon Park, Sycamore Room. Burial will follow in the Ansley Cemetery.
