Dick Clark age 80 of Brewster, NE passed away February 19, 2024, at his home in Brewster.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Anselmo, NE with Father Jim Hunt celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Anselm’s Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Govier Brothers Mortuary, then with family from 5:00 to 6:00 PM, and a Rosary at 6:00 PM, at the St. Anselm’s Catholic Church in Anselmo. Richard “Dick” Joseph Clark was born June 17, 1943, at the Cherry County Hospital in Valentine to Joseph and Viola (Reiser) Clark, passing away February 19, 2024, at the family home near Brewster.
Growing up on the Ed Reiser ranch in the Brownlee area, he attended Grade School there and High School in Thedford.
In 1961, Richard, Viola, and brother Ken moved south of Brewster.
On August 11, 1964, Dick was united in marriage with Sheila “Sue” Iverson at St. Anselm’s Catholic Church. To this union, three children were born: Cope in 1968, Patrese in 1970, and Kirk in 1973.
Dick and Sue along with Ken, ranched, milked cows, and like many, tried their hand at irrigating the sandhills. Dick was quoted as saying “he would rather go to prison than ever milk cows again for a living.” In the early 80’s Dick and Sue purchased their first two trucks and started Clark Trucking, this was Dick’s true love. Another quote of his was “If it didn’t have a motor, I didn’t want anything to do with it.” During his career, Dick traveled from Canada to Mexico, California to New York, accumulating over 3 million miles with only one accident.
Retiring in 2010 from trucking to the pick-up and camper, Dick and Sue spent six winters in Yuma, AZ enjoying golfing, spending time with friends, and (Dick’s not so favorite) Card Club Friday. They were fortunate enough to visit all 50 states and several countries abroad. Dick and Sue, with traveling companions Jim and Colleen Higgins, went on numerous cruises which included Dick’s favorites, seeing Pope Benedict the 16th at Vatican City and touring Cuba.
The highlights of his days were spending his time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by parents Joseph and Viola Clark, father and mother-in-law Everett “Bus” and Alice “Peg” Iverson, sister and brother-in-law Patti and Mike McGinn, and several other family members.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 59 years Sue Clark, brother Kenneth Clark, Son Cope “Michelle” Clark, Children Kelcy Clark and Tanner “Molly” & Everitt Clark, Calvin Paulsen, Kevin “Kyla” Blaze & Jett Paulsen. Daughter Patrese (Clark), Children Lindsay and Emily Cody. Son Kirk “Melanie” Clark Children Hazen and McKenna Clark and Breanne Bannan with fiancé Cody Eilers.
